Lettera aperta a DAZN - Huddle Magazine

Cara DAZN, 

mi presento, sono Huddle Magazine, sito web che da quasi 25 anni si occupa di football americano, ma sono sicuro che ci conoscete già.

Da qualche anno pubblichiamo settimanalmente la programmazione del weekend della NFL su DAZN con l’elenco dei cronisti, abbiamo dato risalto ai vostri contenuti originali creati nel corso del tempo.

Quando abbiamo letto dell’accordo decennale di DAZN con la NFL per i diritti del Game Pass oltre ad un relativo sbalordimento per la portata dell’affare ci siamo informati per capire che tipo di servizio avreste offerto a noi, che non possiamo fare a meno di un servizio che riempie qualche ora della nostra giornata durante la stagione.

A fine luglio siamo stati i primi a pubblicare le caratteristiche che avrebbe avuto il Game Pass sotto la vostra gestione e dal quel momento abbiamo svolto un servizio di “help desk” assolutamente non ufficiale condividendo le esperienze dei nostri lettori, arrivando a pubblicare una FAQ con tutte le informazioni verificate. Abbiamo fatto tutto questo con piacere, convinti che la condivisione avrebbe risposto a molte domande degli abbonati, alle prese con un servizio completamente nuovo.

Ci sono però alcune questioni rimaste in sospeso, alcune funzionalità mancanti e delle possibilità di visione che non sono come quelle che avevate pubblicizzato e che la vostra assistenza aveva più volte confermato.

Elenchiamo quali sono i maggiori problemi che abbiamo riscontrato, speriamo che possiate intervenire cercando di risolverli tutti, o buona parte, per rendere l’esperienza di visione la migliore possibile:

Dispositivi in contemporanea. Siete partiti garantendone tre, in preseason siamo riusciti al massimo a usarne due, iniziata la stagione soltanto uno. Tornare almeno a due ci sembra il minimo visto quanto promesso, ovviamente intendiamo contemporaneità per due eventi live. Avanzamento di 30 secondi. In una partita di football 30 secondi di avanzamento sono troppi, si rischia di perdere un’azione intera. I 10 secondi presenti nelle precedenti versioni del Game Pass erano l’ideale per potersi muovere all’interno di una partita senza perdere azioni di gioco. Addirittura nei Coaches Films vuol dire perdere tre azioni. Taglio pubblicità nelle repliche. Le precedenti versioni del Game Pass poche ore dopo la fine della partita la proponevano on demand ripulendola dalle pause pubblicitarie. Un servizio particolarmente utile per godere della visione in differita più agevolmente. Inizio streaming degli eventi. Ad oggi gli eventi delle partite iniziano pochi minuti prima della partita, perdendo quella preziosa e piacevole parte del pre-partita organizzati dai diversi broadcaster. L’invito è dunque ad anticipare l’inizio dello stream, come era precedentemente con il vecchio Game Pass International. Possibilità di vedere l’evento dall’inizio. Durante una partita live, l’abbonato che torna a casa a partita già iniziata, fin allo scorso anno poteva scegliere se vedere la partita live dal punto in cui era in quel momento, oppure partire dall’inizio. Ora si è obbligati ad entrare nella partita e poi tornare indietro manualmente, con tutti i problemi che ne conseguono (scomodità di tornare all’inizio con arretramento di 30”, altissime possibilità di vedere il risultato corrente, ecc.)

Download. Negli scorsi anni era possibile scaricare una partita sul proprio dispositivo per poterla poi vedere anche senza una connessione attiva.

We are Huddle Magazine, an Italian website that has been dedicated to American football for almost 25 years. For several years, we have been publishing the NFL’s weekend schedule on DAZN on a weekly basis, complete with the list of hosts for the game commented in Italian. We have also highlighted your original content created over time.

Upon learning about DAZN’s ten-year agreement with the NFL for Game Pass rights, we were not only astounded by the magnitude of the deal but also sought to understand the kind of service you would be offering to us. We rely on a service that fills a few hours of our day during the season.

In late July, we were the first in Italy to publish the features that Game Pass would have under DAZN. Since then, we have been providing an unofficial “help desk” service, sharing our readers’ experiences and even publishing a FAQ with all the verified information.

We undertook all these initiatives gladly, believing that sharing this information would answer many of the subscribers’ questions as they approached after many years to a completely new service. However, we believe that there are still some unresolved issues, missing features, and viewing options that do not align with your advertisements and what your support team has repeatedly confirmed.

Here are the major issues we have encountered. We hope you can address them all, or at least most of them, to enhance the viewing experience:

Simultaneous Devices. You initially guaranteed three devices could be used simultaneously. During preseason, we could only use two at most, and once the season started, only one. It seems minimal to return to at least two devices given what was promised. We are referring to simultaneous viewing of two live events. 30-Second Advance. In a football game, a 30-second forward/backward skip is too much; one click leads to miss an entire play. In Coaches Films, it means missing three actions. We believe that a 10-second advance present in previous versions of Game Pass was ideal for navigating within a game without missing any actions.  Ad Cuts in Replays. Previous versions of Game Pass offered ad-free replays a few hours after the end of the game. This service was particularly useful for enjoying deferred viewing more easily. Start Streaming Events. Currently, match events start just a few minutes before the actual game begins, missing out on the valuable and enjoyable pre-game content organized by different broadcasters. We suggest starting the stream earlier, as was done previously with the old Game Pass International. Ability to Watch Event from the Beginning. During a live match, subscribers who arrive home after the game has already started could choose whether to watch the match live from where it was at that moment or start from the beginning. Now viewers are forced to enter the game and then manually rewind, which comes with its own set of problems (inconvenience of rewinding 30″ back, high chances of having the current score spoilered, etc.)

Download. In previous years it was possible to download one or more games offline onto your device; so you could watch it even without an active connection
